In my endless journey to build my miniature collection I found these two sets from the same company: Path Gaming.
Each of these sets comes with 40 pieces with 10 designs. You get four of each pieces. These sets come with a lot of useful Dungeons and Dragons creatures such as: Yeti, Mimics (as chests), Cockatrice, Gnolls, something that could be an Orc, Hobgoblin or similar creature, something that could be a flesh or stone golem, something that looks like a human sized shambling mound, a Pied Piper looking guy I use as a bard, Mind Flayers, Kobold looking guys riding a lizard, and some other interesting pieces.
Each set costs $25. That is less than a $1 per piece.
These pieces are to scale and paint well. I have painted most of them but have kind of slacked off on the ones that I did not see any immediate need for in my games.
