Over the years I have looked for a great space science fiction MMO to play. Obviously I was looking for something along the lines of Traveller but there was none like that to be found. There have been rumblings about creating an online Traveller MMO but so far that has never happened. Instead I settled on EVE Online which I played for many years. It is a massive universe with a cold, hard PVP overtone. Even in areas considered “Safe Zones” a player is never completely safe from other players who want to kill them.
I ran a corporation known as “Wrecking Shots” for most of my time in EVE Online. We participated in most of the biggest battles in that game up until the time I departed from the game a few years ago. Battles in the game could be insane. It was not unusual for battles to last six or seven hours in real time as virtually everyone on the server raced to the battle zone to join in.
But when the battles were over everyone pretty much did their own thing. Mining, running missions, exploring anomalies, building ships, setting up space stations and other activities filled the void between conflicts.
